Italy’s Team Internorm Trentino GSG, known as the “Red Devils” for their signature red racing suits, looks back on a successful Season XVII on the Ski Classics World Championship, finishing 15th in the Pro Team Competition with 462 points.

ProXCskiing.com spoke to Pro Team Director Michele Pasqualotto about the season’s highlights, the team’s lineup for Season XVIII, and what comes next.

A season of clear goals achieved

For Team Internorm Trentino GSG, Season XVII was built around a focused strategy.

“It was a very positive season; we were able to achieve all the goals we had set ourselves,” says Pro Team Director Michele Pasqualotto.

That focus paid off with a string of strong results on the European long-distance skiing circuit. At the Ski Classics Challengers events Granfondo Dobbiaco/Toblach-Cortina Classic and Skating, the team celebrated two victories: Malin Börjesjö won the classic race, while Luca Compagnoni took the skating event.

At the Nordenskiöldsloppet — the world’s longest ski race at 220km — Börjesjö delivered an excellent 2nd place finish, with Lorenzo Busin coming 4th. And at Marcialonga Light, Anna Giordan claimed victory for the second consecutive year.

Behind the results, the team’s ski preparation played a key role. Service technician Fabio Gabrielli and his assistant Sandro Giacomelli are constantly working to find the optimal products, and their contribution to the team’s consistency throughout the season should not be underestimated.

The Dolomitenlauf in Austria also held special significance for the Red Devils, given that main sponsor Internorm is headquartered in Austria, making strong performances there a priority for the team.

A stable roster for Season XVIII

The team heads into Season XVIII with its full lineup confirmed. The eight Pro Team athletes are Anna Giordan, Malin Börjesjö, Anna Schmidhofer, Lorenzo Busin, Francesco Ferrari, Christian Lorenzi, Thomas Rinner, and Sadurni Betriu Boix, representing Italy, Austria, Sweden, and Spain.

In addition, Felix Pider, Luca Compagnoni, Tommaso Dellagiacomo, and Davide Battagini will represent the team in skating competitions, with podium ambitions. Stefania Corradini is also part of the extended squad, with the goal of securing a starting place in the World Cup with the Italian national team.

Internorm will continue as main sponsor for the upcoming season, providing the commercial foundation for the team’s continued growth.

Preparations underway

The first training camp in Val di Fiemme is approaching, with summer preparations already underway across the squad.

The goals for Season XVIII are clear: “Our main focus is on the Euroloppet competitions, but we also want to get involved in Ski Classics,” says Pasqualotto.

For a team with deep roots in Italian winter sports culture and a growing presence on the international long-distance circuit, the Red Devils look set to be a force to watch once again.
