Reistadløpet is changing its race format for the coming season. Starting in 2026, there will be one common distance of 35 kilometers — the classic Reistad course from Setermoen to Bardufoss — for all participants.

The change marks a return to the event’s origins, when both recreational and elite skiers covered the same distance and shared the same challenge.

“We want to bring the entire Reistadløpet family together again. This is a return to the original — one common race for everyone, where you can still look forward to climbing Orta,” says Silje Storaa, Managing Director of Reistadløpet.

By uniting everyone in one distance, the sense of community and overall experience will be strengthened. For the first time, the elite women will start first, a change requested by Ski Classics to ensure equal visibility for women’s and men’s races in the Pro Tour. The mass start for all other participants, including the men’s elite, will follow.

“This makes the event both clearer and more inclusive. We believe participants will appreciate competing — or simply taking part — in the same course as the world’s best athletes,” says Silje Storaa.

“We are very positive about this change, which brings Reistadløpet back to the core of Ski Classics — where elite and recreational skiers start together and race the same distance,” says Oskar Svärd, Director of Ski Classics.
