Anikken Gjerde Alnæs tops the Ski Classics prize money rankings after a remarkable season she didn’t even expect to compete in. The Norwegian Pro Team athlete earned nearly EUR 63.000, the most among all athletes in Season XVI.

From a hospital bed in June to standing on top of the Ski Classics world in March, Anikken Gjerde Alnæs defied the odds. The Team Engcon athlete claimed the overall Champion title and the Green Sprint bib, while her teammate Ole Jørgen Bruvoll secured the men’s overall victory this Season XVI.

Stina Nilsson, Team Ragde Charge, who switched from biathlon to long-distance skiing this season, made a stunning debut. The Swede finished third overall and earned EUR 38.640 thanks to victories at both Vasaloppet and Birkebeinerrennet – Ski Classics’ most prestigious races – and Marcialonga Bodø.

Ole Jørgen Bruvoll, Team Engcon, topped the men’s earnings with EUR 41.004. Behind him, the fight for the remaining top spots was close. His teammate Amund Hoel earned EUR 22.525, while older brother and former overall champion Johan Hoel, Team Ragde Charge, took EUR 17.124.

Max Novak, Team Aker Dæhlie, who led the overall standings with four races remaining, narrowly made the top 10. A controversial disqualification after Birkebeinerrennet significantly impacted his earnings – and may have cost him the overall title.
