The Ski Classics Pro Tour winner of Season XVI is getting married. Her partner proposed on the top of a mountain – and she said yes.

The mountain held a secret. “It was a YES on the top of Vestre Tverrbottind,” wrote Anikken Gjerde Alnæs and Carl Fredrik Hagen on Instagram.

The Ski Classics star and the former professional cyclist have been living together for nearly eight years, but now they’re eventually going to get married.

Last summer, Anikken Gjerde Alnæs was involved in a serious roller ski accident, and for a long time, it was uncertain whether she would be able to compete this past season. But she made it to the start line – and opened the season by claiming her first career victory.

After that, her success continued, and she ended the season as the overall Ski Classics Champion. She also won the Green Sprint bib.

Her partner, Carl Fredrik Hagen, has been a professional cyclist for many years and rode for several pro teams before retiring in November 2024. The 33-year-old placed eighth in the Vuelta a España – at the time, the best result ever by a Norwegian in a Grand Tour.

New Surgery and More Rehab

The injuries Anikken sustained in the serious roller ski accident in June affected her throughout the entire season.

“The injury still limits me in many ways, for example, now during the final weekend. It hurts to use the herringbone technique, and it’s frustrating not to be able to push when I feel I have the strength,” Alnæs told Langrenn.com after the season.

And she is far from fully recovered. Her shattered kneecap requires another surgery – a procedure she needs to undergo in the coming weeks.

“I don’t know exactly what it will involve, but they need to go in and clean things up a bit. Remove screws and plates and such. We’ll do some tests, and once the season is over, assess the situation and make a plan based on that. But I understand that the rehab won’t be as extensive this time as it was after last year’s injury.”
