ProXCskiing.com met with Johannes Dale-Skjevdal ahead of the season in Beitostølen. The 27-year-old from Norway revealed some key factors behind his success.

The 27-year-old has proven that he can challenge anyone on his best days. He is predicted to be the next big name after the Bø brothers. Johannes Dale-Skjevdal feels ready for the season—both physically and mentally—to deliver both on the track and at the shooting range, where he’s never been better. Now, he reveals what’s behind his success. In less than a week, he’ll get the results.

Last year, he got married and entered the World Cup season with a new last name and high expectations to maintain his spot on the Norwegian elite team. At times, he delivered performances that left both competitors and experts in awe.

This year, the biathlete from Lørenskog comes in with a confidence and calm that even the other Johannes in the sport might envy. This is despite being beaten by the junior team during the roller ski championships in Lillehammer in September.

In Beitostølen

ProXCskiing.com’s sister site Langd.se met Johannes Dale-Skjevdal during the Norwegian national team’s final training camp before the season’s start, where he exuded just this calm and confidence.

“I feel like I’m starting to mature, to be secure in myself and calm, and I think that’s very important in biathlon,” he said and continued:

“I feel very confident. In shooting, confidence is the most important thing.”

Dale-Skjevdal has put in a solid training effort during the summer and autumn, describing how the details have now come together. On the track, he’s already the fastest in the world. But at the shooting range, he’s faced his biggest challenges—and that’s where he’s made the greatest strides.

Dale also reveals his significant steps, how he and his wife have created the right conditions for success and his overarching goal for the season.

“It’s been a lot of pasta and pizza this year,” Johannes Dale-Skjevdal admits.
