Just three months after returning to biathlon, Einar Hedegart has set a goal he believes will surpass the two Olympic golds he won last winter.

Einar Hedegart transitioned from winning two Olympic golds and securing a spot in the cross-country elite to an uncertain biathlon career without guaranteed World Cup starts. 

Three months later, he has no regrets. The 24-year-old from Norway is brimming with motivation and has set goals that could become the highlights of his career. The first is to qualify for the World Cup this winter. 

“That would be my biggest achievement to date. Especially if I perform well in the World Cup. I don’t just want to participate; doing well in the biathlon World Cup would be my greatest accomplishment so far,” Hedegart told Langrenn.com.

Greater than Olympic gold in cross-country skiing? 

“Yes, actually,” he says, continuing.

“Given that last season was solely focused on cross-country, it would be particularly exciting to return (to biathlon) in this way.”

So far, Hedegart has competed in two biathlon World Cup races. These took place in Holmenkollen in 2023, where he finished 28th in the sprint and 49th in the pursuit. 

Nevertheless, Hedegart believes qualifying for the World Cup is realistic and has laid out a clear plan.
