The Norwegian Biathlon Association has named its national biathlon teams for the 2026/2027 season.

The Norwegian Biathlon Association has named its national biathlon teams for the 2026/2027 season.

According to a press release from the Norwegian Biathlon Association, the national biathlon teams for the 2026/2027 season have now been selected. 

Lars Mæland, the Sports Director of the Norwegian Biathlon Association, says in the press release:

“It is very gratifying to experience that the athletes want to be part of our national team offer. We have strong training environments, high competence in the support system and a model that provides good conditions for both development and performance. It is inspiring to see such a motivated environment.”

Elite National Team

The elite national team consists of 12 athletes (6 women and 6 men).

Elite Women

  • Maren Hjelmeset Kirkeeied
  • Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold
  • Juni Arnekleiv
  • Marthe Kråkstad Johansen
  • Karoline Offigstad Knotten
  • Gro Njølstad Randby

Coaches: Sverre Olsbu Røiseland and Marthe Kristoffersen

Elite Men

  • Sturla Holm Lægreid
  • Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen
  • Johannes Dale-Skjevdal
  • Johan-Olav Smørdal Botn
  • Isak Leknes Frey
  • Martin Uldal

Recruit National Team

According to the press release, “towards the upcoming season, several changes will also be introduced to the national team model in the Norwegian Biathlon Association. The new model will contribute to stronger professional environments, closer cooperation across levels, and a clearer development path for the athletes leading up to the World Championships on home soil in 2029 and the Olympics in 2030.

As part of the changes, the recruitment teams for women and men are being merged into one common development environment.”

Also, according to the press release, “changes are also being made at the U23 level ahead of the upcoming season. The women’s and men’s teams will be combined into one group, while the number of athletes will be reduced from 12 to 8.”
