Ski Classics and the outdoor clothing and equipment company Fjällräven have signed a multi-year agreement ahead of the upcoming Season XV. Fjällräven will enter the world of Ski Classics as the official clothing partner, bringing its expertise in cold climate functionality and sustainable, durable clothing into the long-distance skiing scene.

“We are pleased to announce that we are starting a long-term collaboration with Fjällräven. For us, Fjällräven is a brand representing much of the soul of Ski Classics. The fact that they are so far ahead in the sustainability work is an inspiration and it means a lot to have their support in the fluor-free transition,” says David Nilsson, CEO Ski Classics.

Ski Classics is working hard to become a more and more sustainable winter sport, and support from partners like the sustainability pioneers at Fjällräven is essential in driving this significant transition forward.

“At Fjällräven, our core mission and driving force is to enable and inspire more people to spend time in nature, embracing an active outdoor lifestyle. We strongly believe that the more time people spend in nature, the more they’ll appreciate and respect it. This connection naturally leads to making sustainable choices – a value deeply embedded in our company’s DNA,” says Martin Axelhed, CEO Fjällräven, and adds:

“We are looking forward to driving our mission forward together with Ski Classics.”

“For decades, Fjällräven has created functional, durable, and timeless outdoor equipment designed with sustainability in mind. Our expertise in cold weather gear feels like a natural fit with Ski Classics. While we don’t specialize in gear for competitive Nordic skiing, Fjällräven clothing can not only be worn pre and post-race but also among those who work tirelessly in challenging winter conditions to make these events possible. I’m sure that our cold climate functionality will be extremely valuable to enable them to do their best work comfortably.”

From this season, Ski Classics has taken the step of banning fluor waxes from the ski tracks, in line with the FIS ICR rules. Fjällräven started the journey of phasing out PFCs already back in 2009.

“We applaud and support Ski Classics for taking a significant step for the environment by banning fluorocarbon ski wax. At Fjällräven, we embarked on the journey of banning PFCs back in 2009, long before the current legislation was underway,” says Axelhed and concludes:

“We are very excited to share our learnings with the ski community to jointly protect what we all love so much: nature and the outdoors.”
