This is Switzerland’s team to the World Cup in Davos

Switzerland is fielding a huge team of no less than 30 racers to the World Cup events on home turf this weekend.

Swiss Ski, the host of this weekend’s World Cup races, has named 11 women and 19 men to the Swiss team for the double-header in Davos on Saturday and Sunday.

Switzerland’s most famous cross-country skier Dario Cologna is one of the 30 racers.

Earlier this fall, the 35-year-old Olympic gold winner and multiple World Champion announced that he will retire after the 2021/22 season. Accordingly, this weekend’s races are likely the last World Cup events Cologna will race on home turf before retiring. That’s also why Cologna chose to sit out the World Cup in Lillehammer last weekend: He wanted to stay home and prepare for his last World Cup on home turf.

The World Cup weekend in Davos open with sprint races for both men and women on Saturday, followed by individual start distance races on Sunday. Both events are free technique.
