Silly Season: Řezáč’s Last Season?

Stanislav Řezáč, Team Slavia Pojišťovna Sport Team Z.S., is undoubtedly one of the greatest legends of long-distance skiing and Visma Ski Classics. Now he’s wondering if next season will be his last.

Řezáč has won many long-distance skiing races that one can quickly lose count of. Among them, four wins at Birkebeinerrennet, wins at Jizerská Padesátka and König Ludwig Lauf in 2012, a total of 12 podium places in Visma Ski Classics since 2011, many great victories in various international long-distance skiing events, twice on the podium at Vasaloppet and several top 10 positions, including Season XII Tartu Maraton.

After so many successful years, Řezáč is pondering whether the 2022/23 Season will be his last and what his motivation will be.

In front of Visma Ski Classics Season XII, a new bib was launched for veterans, defined as 44 years and older, and Řezáč’s main goal for next season is to be awarded the Veteran Bib.

“I don’t know, maybe I would like to go to one last season, I guess, so I would like to put the maximum into it,” says Řezáč to Czech Television and continues:

“There will be a season ahead of me in which I want to succeed. Then I will see what I will do next.”

After a good season for him and his Pro Tour Team Slavia Pojišťovna Sport Team Z.S., Stanislav is already looking for the next season and keeps his sight on the Veteran bib, which, after a close competition, has been awarded to Anders Aukland, Team Ragde Charge.

“It may work out,” concludes Řezáč to the Česká televize, referring to winning the Veteran bib in what could be his last season as a Pro Tour skier.
