Hanna Falk invested in long-distance skiing and Visma Ski Classics after a long and successful career as a sprinter. However, a rib injury from last autumn has disrupted the long-distance season, and now Falk announces that her elite career is over.

“I completely lack the motivation to invest further and do what is required of me and my body,” the 32-year-old writes on Instagram.

This is how Hanna Falk describes her decision on her Instagram account:

Hanna Falk emerged early as a sprinter. The first World Cup victory came in Düsseldorf on December 5, 2009. The second victory came the same winter, January 17, in Otepää. It took eight years for the subsequent success; on January 13, 2018, Falk won the sprint in Dresden, and on March 16, the same winter, she took the fourth and final victory in the sprint in Falun.

After several years with back problems and a back operation, Falk returned strong and finished fourth in the World Cup sprint at home in Ulricehamn last winter. Before this winter, she invested in long-distance skiing and showed excellent form at rollerski competitions this summer, including a victory at the Klarälvsloppet.

Last autumn, a fall on rollerskis resulted in a rib injury that disrupted her first season as a long-distance cross-country skier in Lager 157 Ski Team. Now she ends her career as a professional skier.
