Swedish team for the Schuchinsk Roller Ski World Cup

The FIS Roller Ski World Cup in Schuchinsk, Kazakhstan, starts this Wednesday, August 14. With just a day left until the start, the Swedish national team was presented.  

The FIS Roller Ski World Cup in Schuchinsk, Kazakhstan, starts this Wednesday, August 14. With just a day left until the start, the Swedish national team was presented.  

The Schuchinsk Roller Ski World Cup is taking place this week from August 14 to 18. In Kazakhstan, all events will be contested by women, men, junior women, and junior men. On Wednesday, August 14, there will be a 200m sprint race in freestyle technique. On Thursday, August 15, a Mixed Team Sprint is taking place. On Friday, August 16, it’s time for training and a rest day. 

On Saturday, August 17, it’s time for a 10km classic individual start race. On Sunday, August 18, there will be a mass start race in freestyle technique with 16km (4x4km) for senior women and junior women and 20km (5x4km) for senior men and junior men.

In a press release, the Swedish Ski Association announced  Linn Sömskar, who leads the women’s senior category, and Johanna Holmberg, who leads the women’s juniors, are both in Kazakhstan and aim to defend their yellow leader’s bibs. However, the men’s junior Jonatan Lindberg, who also wore the yellow bib, is not taking part this time.

Johan Ericsson expressed: “the goal for the competitions in Schuchinsk is to continue to be on the podium in all classes,” and added:

“We come from fantastic competitions in Latvia where we fulfilled the goal of winning at least one race a day. Now we recharged for new races.”
