The cross-country skiing World Cup moves to Lake Placid, USA, for the final stage of the 2025/2026 season next weekend, and the Swedish national team has been announced.

The United States will host the final cross-country skiing World Cup races from Friday, March 20, to Sunday, March 22, 2026. The program opens on Friday with a 10km interval start in classic technique, followed by a freestyle sprint on Saturday. The weekend concludes on Sunday with a 20km mass start in freestyle technique.

In a press release, the Swedish Ski Association confirmed the national team selection for Lake Placid.

“Ending the season in Lake Placid will be a great experience for everyone. We remember Minneapolis two years ago, where the atmosphere was electric, and crowds of spectators had taken to the tracks. There are rumors of something similar this time in Lake Placid,” says national team manager Anders Byström.

Sixteen athletes have been selected to compete in the white suit on the other side of the Atlantic.

“We have tried to select an all-round squad that can perform in the three different competition formats. The squad was selected earlier this week because the logistics to the USA are not entirely simple,” says Anders Byström.

The program includes a 10km classic interval start, a freestyle sprint, and a 20km freestyle mass start.

“The big goal for the team now is to finish the World Cup season strong and to compete for the final places in the overall cups. We also aim to pick up important points in the Nations Cup,” says Anders Byström.
