For each competition day in the Tour de Ski, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) distributes prize money totaling 6,000 euros. Here is the complete overview of how the prize money at the Tour de Ski is distributed.

Tour de Ski 2025/2026 consists of six races over eight days: four stages in Toblach, Italy, from December 28 to January 1, followed by two stages in Val di Fiemme from January 3 to 4.

Slightly less than last year

Prize money is paid out in euros this year, instead of Swiss francs, as has been the case until now. This is a disadvantage for athletes, as the euro exchange rate is weaker than that of the Swiss franc.

In total, 321,000 euros will be distributed at the Tour de Ski 2025/2026. This year, the prize sums have been reduced by approximately 12,000 euros compared to last year.

In 2024/2025, the prize for the overall victory was 85,000 Swiss francs (approximately 91,500 euros). This year, the winners receive 80,000.

This is how the prize money is distributed

The most significant prize sums go to the overall winners and are awarded after the final stage. However, prize money is also paid to the top three finishers at each stage, totaling 12,000 euros per stage, equally divided between women and men.

Prize money per stage (per gender):

  • 1st place: 3,000 euros
  • 2nd place: 2,000 euros
  • 3rd place: 1,000 euros

Total per stage: 6,000 euros per gender

Prize money for the overall standings after the final stage

FIS requires athletes to complete the entire Tour de Ski to compete for the most significant prize money. Therefore, the winners of the sprint and climbing competitions are also decided after the finish of the final stage up the iconic Alpe Cermis.
