Norwegian national team for the World Cup finals in Lake Placid
The cross-country skiing World Cup moves to Lake Placid, USA, for the final stage of the 2025/2026 season next weekend, and the Norwegian national team has been announced. Johannes Høsflot Klæbo has now also been confirmed to travel to the USA.
The United States will host the final cross-country skiing World Cup races from Friday, March 20, to Sunday, March 22, 2026. The program opens on Friday with a 10km interval start in classic technique, followed by a freestyle sprint on Saturday. The weekend concludes on Sunday with a 20km mass start in freestyle technique.
According to a press release earlier today, Johannes Høsflot Klæbo decided late on Tuesday to travel to Lake Placid after uncertainty following a mild concussion sustained during the World Cup sprint in Drammen last week. After medical evaluations and a gradual return to training, he has now been cleared to compete.
The 29-year-old began his journey early Wednesday morning from Trondheim and faces a travel time of around 20 to 22 hours before arriving in Lake Placid. With limited time to adapt before the first race on Friday, Klæbo acknowledged that the preparation is not ideal but expressed his motivation to compete in the World Cup finale in the USA.
In a press release earlier in the week, the Norwegian Ski Association confirmed the national team selection for Lake Placid.
