Laura Gimmler undergoes knee surgery
German cross-country skier Laura Gimmler has had surgery on her knee after battling problems throughout the past winter season.
The German Ski Association (DSV) confirmed that an MRI scan carried out after the end of the season detected a partial tear of the lateral meniscus.
“After the end of the season, an MRI detected a tear in her outer meniscus. The operation went well and the recovery is proceeding according to plan,” the DSV stated.
Gimmler dealt with recurring knee issues during the season, but the extent of the injury only became clear once the winter was over and she was able to undergo further examination.
The DSV and her supporters have wished her a swift recovery and are looking forward to her return to competition.
