Klæbo To Miss Almost All National Team Training Camps

Johannes Høsflot Klæbo prioritizes his altitude training plan over the national training camps.

The first training camp for the Norwegian national team is the Sognefjellet camp, which started this week at 1.400 meters above sea level. At higher altitudes, the Norwegian national team will not be carrying any camps this season.

However, Klæbo considers high-altitude training camps crucial and has made it a condition for joining the national team, so that he can carry out his own training camp plan.

The 2023 World Championships are 1000-1100 meters above sea level. High-altitude training camps are not crucial for Planica, but Klæbo thinks about it in the longer term and sees high-altitude training as necessary for his development.

“I am going high because I believe that training camps are important for my development. The World Championships in February is one thing, but there will also be the World Championships in 2025 and the Olympics in 2026,” says Klæbo to the Norwegian broadcaster NRK.

Johannes Høsflot Klæbo plans two or three longer high-altitude camps for the training season. This means he is only occasionally involved in the training camps with the Norwegian team.
