World Cup skiers’ intense schedule continues when the Stadium Sprint at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium takes place on Wednesday. Stadium Sprint is an invitation race, and it will be starred by many of the sport’s top athletes, led by Norway’s Johannes Høsflot Klæbo.

Johannes Høsflot Klæbo is once again happy to come to the Helsinki Olympic Stadium:

“Last year was really fun and entertaining to be a part of the event. The event as a whole is inspiring both for us athletes and the audience,” Klaebo says in a press release.

The Norwegian sprint star feels it is important that new types of competitions like the Stadium Sprint also attract the top names in the sport.

“Cross-country skiing needs new ideas and concepts like this. We work not only in sports but also in entertainment and compete for the public’s leisure time. We should value events like the Stadium Sprint; they are part of the future of cross-country skiing. We need to be where the people are,” the cross-country ski star says.

The international superstars of the Stadium Sprint include Italian Federico Pellegrino, French Richard Jouve, Norwegian Even Northug, and Swedish William Poromaa. The women’s race will feature Swedish Johanna Hagström, Norwegian Ane Appelkvist Stenseth, Germans Katharina Hennig and Victoria Carl, and, most recently, Finland’s Kerttu Niskanen.

Additionally, there will be more Finns in the race, as Ristomatti Hakola, Lauri Vuorinen, Joni Mäki, Johanna Matintalo, Jasmi Joensuu, and Jasmin Kähärä among others, will stand on the start line.
