French National Team racing in Sweden

Just over a month remains until Alliansloppet. Most of the Ski Classics Pro Teams will be present at the event, facing solid competition from National Teams, including the French squad.

Clement Parisse is one of the French skiers named for the Trollhättan Action Week next month in Sweden.

From August 25-27 in Sweden, it’s time for the roller skiing competition during Trollhättan Action Week. Sprint on Friday, the long-distance Alliansloppet on Saturday, and a 15-kilometer individual race on Sunday are on the program.

A star-studded starting list is already confirmed, with most Ski Classics Pro Teams present. The long-distance skiers will face fierce competition from several national teams. Last year’s competitions offered great drama with Calle Halfvarsson’s long and successful breakout, and on the women’s side Emma Ribom took her second victory in a row after a thrilling sprint duel:

“I have competed there twice, enjoy the track, and it seems to suit me well. I’m going to take home the third straight,” says Emma Ribom to Langd.se. Ribom last winter became World Champion in the sprint relay and got individual silver in the sprint and bronze in the relay at the World Championships in Planica.

Emma Ribom and the other Swedish skiers in the traditional distances will face international competition. The French national team will arrive in Trollhättan five days before the roller skiing competition starts with a solid squad:

“Our entire World Cup team will be on-site during the Trollhättan Action Week, but not everyone will start the Alliansloppet. Some of our skiers focus on other races and support our teammates who are better suited for this challenge. The Alliansloppet is an individual competition; each rider will strive for personal success. But we will be united as a team and give each other motivation and encouragement throughout the race. Together we will strive to succeed and push our limits,” says head coach Alexandre Rousslet to Alliansloppet.se.

The French team includes, among other skiers, Richard Jouve, who won the sprint cup last winter, and there is also the entire French relay team, as well as Delphine Claudel, who was second (behind Ebba Andersson) at the World Cup at home in Les Rousses, France last winter.

Alliansloppet and the 15-kilometer race are the last two races of the Mitsubishi Electric World Classic Tour, which begins with Lysebotn Opp in Norway on August 2.
