No one could challenge Ebba Andersson in Thursday’s 10-kilometer race at the Swedish Championships. Second and third place also went to Piteå Elit.

The big favorite ahead of the women’s 10-kilometer race at the Swedish Championships was Ebba Andersson, and there was no doubt about who would take home the gold. Andersson was dominant from start to finish.

At the 3.2-kilometer split, she was already over 20 seconds ahead of second-place Jonna Sundling. By 6.1 kilometers, the gap had grown to more than a minute.

At the finish, the winning margin was an incredible two minutes and five seconds.

“It was a very good race. I had amazing skis and lots of energy,” Ebba Andersson told Expressen after the race.

Andersson prepared for the Swedish Championships by competing in the final weekend of Ski Classics, where she won two races—clearly a great lead-up.

Thursday’s runner-up, Jonna Sundling, found the loose conditions in Kalix technically challenging.

“It was special—a bit of a flashback to the 50km in Trondheim. For me personally, it was technically difficult and a bit tricky,” she told Expressen.

Third place also went to a Piteå Elit skier. After a strong finish, Sofia Henriksson claimed the final spot on the podium, pushing Skellefteå’s Evelina Crüsell down to fourth.

“It feels amazing to stand on the podium with these girls after a season that has been a bit of a struggle,” Henriksson told Expressen after the race.

The Swedish Championships continue in Kalix on Friday with the team sprint. On Sunday, the event concludes with a 30-kilometer race for the women and a 50-kilometer race for the men.
