Ski the night: 30km of Alpine magic at the Moonlight Classic Seiser Alm

Moonlight Classic
Cross-country skiing by moonlight along a torchlit promenade – that’s what’s on offer at the Seiser Alm, at the 19th Moonlight Classic Seiser Alm on Friday, January 22, 2027, starting at 20:00 CET in Compatsch.

What has since grown into a popular celebration is a cross-country ski race of a special kind. At the Moonlight Classic Seiser Alm, two distances are available: the challenging 30km and the 15km.

In a mass start, hundreds of endurance athletes set off from Compatsch. The first twelve kilometers are covered by participants in both the long and short distance on the same course. After that, those competing in the 15km distance turn back from Ritsch to the start point in Compatsch, which also serves as the finish.

The long route takes skiers from Ritsch via the Jochrunde to Goldknopf and Spitzbühl. This is followed by a steep descent back to Ritsch and then the final kilometres back to Compatsch, where hundreds of spectators will be waiting. For beginners and amateurs, a five-kilometre Just-for-Fun race with no competitive element is available, for which registration is possible directly on-site on race day. And not to be overlooked is the extensive supporting programme in a heated festival tent, with plenty of music and entertainment, where participants can celebrate well into the evening.
