Will Ylläs-Levi Be Johansson Norgren Last Race?
“We shall see. I ski this race, and we will see what happens after that,” says Johansson Norgren.
Britta Johanson Norgren, Lager 157 Ski Team, leads 97 points ahead of Ida Dahl, Team Ramudden, before the final race Season XII, Ylläs-Levi. The last time this race took place, in 2019, Britta was second, and she was also second in 2018.
“It is a race that suits me quite well, but it is also a tougher race than you might think. It’s still 70km, and a few climbs. It is important to have a good day to win,” she says.
What do you say about the fight with Ida for the overall? Can you say that it will be a tactical race on Saturday?
“It will probably be a bit like that. It’s about doing a good race, and I know that if Ida is to take over the yellow bib, she also needs to do a great race. The pressure is well above all on her. It will probably be a bit to watch her, but I want to feel that I did everything I could during the competition and focus more on it.”
How is the recovery after Reistadløpet?
“It has gone very well. I think the form is much better this week. I had two weeks that were tough between races. But both at Reistadløpet and afterward have felt good. I hope it lasts until Saturday.”
What is your best race this winter?
“It was La Venosta Time Trial. I had a fantastic feeling throughout the race and felt so strong. It is not so easy to do it when the race is at altitude,” says Johansson Norgren about the race where she won almost 20 seconds ahead of Ida Dahl, and the other skiers were minutes behind.
We must ask. Is it the last race of your career on Saturday?
“We shall see. I ski this race, and we will see what happens after that. I have wanted to have full focus on this entire season and ski all the way into this position. Especially now when I chase the yellow,” says Johansson Norgren and continues.
“Then it’s about that, the family behind and how everything feels with the motivation in the future. In the end, many things come into play,” Britta Johansson Norgren concludes.
