Started the season strong: “Should suit me well”
She has started the Ski Classics Season XV strongly with several personal bests. Now, the Swedish Pro Team athlete is looking forward to an intense competition period beginning on Saturday with the 3 Zinnen Ski Marathon.
Last season, Hanna Lodin competed for Ski Team Göhlins. She had several solid races, with ninth place at Vasaloppet being her best result. She switched to Team Engcon and has started the season with results of 9th, 8th, and 7th.
What has made you take another step in your development?
“Mainly, it’s been another year with a lot of training. Also, I’ve gotten a lot of help with technique. But mostly that I’ve trained a lot and hard, says Hanna to Langd.se.
How do you view your season start? Are you satisfied, or do you feel there is more to give?
“I’m happy with the recent races. After the summer races, I felt that I should have taken steps in development, even on snow. I hope to achieve higher placements and better results in upcoming competitions,” she explains.
During the Christmas break, Hanna took the opportunity to participate in the Boden Ski Marathon. She won that race with a 2-minute margin over Sofia Lindberg.
“Boden is quite close to Umeå, and it was a good fit with a race. Simply a good training session.”
Longer Race
This Saturday, the season’s longest race so far in the Ski Classics Season XV is scheduled with the 3 Zinnen Ski Marathon. The race is 62 kilometers long with 770 meters of elevation gain. Hanna believes the course suits her.
“I’ve had trouble before in curvy downhill sections, but I feel more confident now. It should suit me well, it’s quite flat with not so steep uphill sections”, she says.
What are your ambitions for this weekend?
“Hopefully, I can continue the upward trend. One of the goals this year is to be in the top 6 in a race. I will fight for it and be offensive to achieve better results,” she concludes.
