Team Mäenpää published on their Instagram that the team will have two new, young talents representing them in some Ski Classics races in the upcoming winter.

“The team is presenting two new young female skiers for Ski Classics this upcoming season. Sandra Jordman, and Amanda Nyfors will compete for the team in at least five races. Cool to have new girls try this out. Welcome!”

The two new young Finnish skiers are looking forward to gaining experience in Ski Classics. Sandra Jordman is a 23-year-old skier with 4th place from the U23 Finnish nationals on 20km classic last winter and 22nd place on National 30km in classic technique as her best results. Amanda Nyfors was 25th on the 30km classic at Finnish nationals last spring and 8th at the U23 Finnish nationals sprint in 2022.

Pro Team Director Kim Mäenpää comments about the new members of the team:

“Both Amanda and Sandra will, at least, attend Ski Classics races at the opening weekend in Bad Gastein, Marcialonga, Orsa, and possibly Vasaloppet. They aim to find the good feeling in long races in the first year and finish around the top 20-25. I have known and followed the development of Amanda as a skier since she was a junior, and I know she has potential. Both Amanda and Sandra come from Vaasa, Finland, where Hannes and Robin (Mäenpää) live as well, so that is good, thinking about training.”

The team’s summer has gone well, and they started their training season in Idre Fjäll, where they did volume and uphill training followed by a block at home with some tests. Currently, the men of the team are training in Livigno, Italy, gathering some uphill meters and threshold training:

“Viktor Mäenpää will train 3 weeks at the altitude and Hannes Mäenpää, Robin Mäenpää and Christoffer Lindvall about 2 weeks. Intensities are mostly just under the threshold level now. In October, the team will spend one week in Mallorca, Spain, where the intensity will be higher, and then before the season starts, we will head back to Livigno for a period of altitude training.”

The team expects to take a step forward on an individual level and to be visible at specific competitions:

“As a team, our main goal for the coming winter is that everyone takes a step forward and that as a team, we could be visible and show our “colors,” concludes Mäenpää.
