One of the new additions to Team Ragde Charge is Torgeir Sulen Hovland. The Norwegian Pro Team athlete is switching teams after some solid seasons with Team Engcon. His best result in Season XIV was 26th place at Engadin La Diagonela, finishing the season in the 41st position overall.
In this exclusive interview with ProXCskiing.com, get to know more about the skier, his thoughts about the past season, his plans and goals for Summer and Season XV, and his favorite training session on roller skis.
When asked about his performances during Ski Classics Season XIV, Sulen Hovland has some mixed feelings.
“The Season was not what I hoped for. It was a tough season where I didn’t reach the goal I had before the season. I didn’t perform at my best level, and I have to work on that during the next season. Still, there were some positive experiences as well.”

Despite a challenging winter, the Pro Team athlete has some best moments from Ski Classics Season XIV.
“It was really nice to win the Pro Team Tempo competition with Engcon in Bad Gastein. It also was fantastic to show Ski Classics how beautiful it can be in northern Norway in the last race of the Season, Summit 2 Senja,” says the new Team Ragde Charge skier and continues about what was the most challenging during Season XIV:
“The most challenging thing about the season was that I felt that I was in better shape than I was able to show in the biggest races, which was quite frustrating at times.”
Now that Torgeir has signed with Team Ragde Charge, he is already planning his Summer and the upcoming Season XV.
“I am now finishing my Master’s in Economics at the University of Tromsø, and hope to deliver it during June,” says Torgeir and continues:
“At the end of May, I will have my first training camp with Team Ragde Charge. This is something I’m really looking forward to. Furthermore, the plan is to compete at Kanalrennet, both races at Blink, Alliansloppet, and Klarälvsloppet. I have clear goals to develop as a long-distance skier together with the strong group in Ragde, and I want to contribute to the team having a good season. Personally, I hope to fight in the top both in the roller ski competitions and in the biggest competitions through the winter.”
Do you already know your role at Team Ragde Charge?
“My role is to help the team to be able to win the biggest ski races, such as Marcialonga and Vasaloppet. But I will also have the opportunity to go for my own chances in some races.”
Since Summer is just around the corner and roller skiing is essential for traditional and long-distance skiers, Torgeir shares his favorite training session and some training tips with us.
“My favorite session on roller skis is going round trip to a place outside Tromsø, Kvaløyvågen. This session is 80km, where you can have a Coke and snacks with a lovely view halfway. My best training tip is often to use SkiErg if you can. Both for long distances and hard sessions. This will ensure you are well prepared for the winter’s main goal.”
Torgeir Sulen Hovland is optimistic about the new season and shared his joy of joining his new squad Team Ragde Charge.
“I am really looking forward to a new season and am very happy to be able to develop further and be in a team with strong teammates in Andreas Nygaard, Johan Hoel, Kasper Stadaas, and Karstein Johaug. I am also looking forward to working closely with Jørgen Aukland, Anders Aukland and Magnar Dalen, and really believe that they will be able to help me achieve both my and the team’s goals.”
