Silje opened up about the milestones that have defined her career, the strategies that have brought her to victory, and the invaluable support that propels her forward daily.

Silje Øyre Slind, Team Aker Daehlie, has climbed the ranks of competitive skiing through perseverance, hard work, and key victories. In an open conversation with ProXCskiing.com, she shared the moments that shaped her career, the tactics that pushed her forward, and the support system that drives her daily.

Silje’s victory at Engadin La Diagonela

Silje’s victory at Engadin La Diagonela changed everything. “To finally win a race meant so much to me!” she said to ProXCskiing.com. The win came right after a tough performance at the Norwegian national championships. “The Wednesday before La Diagonela, I felt really disappointed,” she admitted. She never expected to win such a major race.

That victory moment shifted her mindset. “It gave me motivation through the rest of the season,” she said. “It’s a memory I will carry forever!”

Tactical Racing at Marcialonga

At Marcialonga, Silje proved her strategic skill. She and her breakaway companions, Anniken and Jenny, worked together to create a gap. “When Anniken, Jenny, and I pulled ahead, we knew we had to drop Emilie before the last hill,” she explained. Their plan focused on maintaining the lead until the right moment.

However, Emilie fought back with incredible speed. Silje had to adjust. “Emilie was super strong. When she caught up, I focused on saving as much energy as possible before the last climb,” she said.

She finished second but respected her opponent’s performance. “My strategy worked well. Emilie just skied better that day,” she admitted.

Managing a Packed Schedule

Silje tackles both physical and mental challenges throughout the season. To stay competitive, she carefully balances training and recovery. “I train enough to improve while making sure I recover properly for races,” she said.

She focuses on double poling power, a crucial skill in competitive skiing. “I train to maintain strength in double poling while mixing up exercises to prevent injuries,” she added. Her disciplined approach keeps her progressing year after year.

The Strength of Team Aker Dæhlie

Silje’s Pro Team plays a key role in her success. “The team means everything to me!” she said. She credits coach Chris for sharpening her technique, strength, and mental resilience.

Her teammates, the waxing crew, and sponsors all contribute to her journey. “We have an amazing relationship with our sponsors. Without them, we wouldn’t stand a chance!” she emphasized. This strong support system fuels her ambition and determination.
