Jizerská50
Jizerská50, the eighth stage of the Ski Classics Season XV, is one of Central Europe’s premier long-distance skiing races and the second Grand Classics event of the season.

Scheduled for Sunday, February 11, 2024, in the picturesque Czech Republic, Jizerská50 spans 50 kilometers, challenging skiers to demonstrate their endurance and skills. It’s a race that effortlessly combines the breathtaking landscapes reminiscent of Scandinavian skiing competitions with a distinct European charm, offering the best of both worlds.

“With long climbs and wide tracks through the beautiful forests of the northern Czech Republic and an amazing atmosphere around the finish, Jizerská50 is a true monument and always exciting!” says Ski Classics Sport Director Anton Karlsson.

A fascinating journey in the Jizera Mountains

The inception of Jizerská50 traces back to the late 1960s when a group of intrepid mountain climbers conceived the idea of organizing a race within the region. With a modest start in 1968, featuring a mere 52 participants, this remarkable event has blossomed into a grand celebration, inviting local and international athletes alike to embark on an extraordinary adventure in the wilderness of the Jizera Mountains.

The start and finish are in Bedřichov, a mountain village radiating a distinctive atmosphere heightened by local delicacies and fine brews. Jizerská50 not only garners attention from a global audience through Ski Classics but also captivates millions of Czech viewers, solidifying its status as one of the nation’s most admired and popular sporting spectacles.
