Grönklitt Weekend – The Ski Classics Pro Tour Goes To Sweden

Ski Classics continue with Grönklitt Criterium and Grönklitt ITT on Saturday and Sunday, February 18 and 19, 2023. The 50km and 12km events mark Season XIV’s ninth and tenth Ski Classics stages.

Orsa Grönklitt welcomes Pro Teams and their athletes as the Ski Classics heads to Scandinavia with another back-to-back Pro Tour events weekend, Grönklitt Criterium and Grönklitt ITT – Individual Time Trial. 

After eight stages, the Ski Classics Pro Tour starts its final part of the season in the same venue where the Prologue weekend was held in Season XII. 

On Saturday, February 18, the weekend starts with the Grönklitt Criterium. The ninth event in Season XIV is a 50-kilometer long-distance race offering stunning scenery. The Grönklitt Criterium is a mass-start race and a challenging course.

On Sunday, February 19, the weekend continues with the tenth event in Season XIV, the Grönklitt ITT. The Individual Time Trial is organized as an individual start competition, and the Pro Tour athletes will face a 12-kilometer race in typical Swedish forests close to small lakes and beautiful landscapes, all only half an hour’s drive from the legendary finish line of Vasaloppet.

In the pre-events interviews ahead of the Grönklitt weekend, broadcast on SC YouTube earlier today, Anton Karlsson, Ski Classics Sports Director, has some impressions about the upcoming Ski Classics Pro Tour weekend:

“It’s nice to see that we are already here at events 9 and 10 this coming weekend, the Tour is heading North, from the continent to Scandinavia, and we are very much looking for the weekend,” and continues:

“The tracks and conditions are looking perfect at the moment. There’s a lot of snow up here in Orsa Grönklitt,” says the Ski Classics Sports Director.

The Season XIV of Ski Classics Pro Tour consists of 14 events on 10 event weekends in 6 different countries.

  • Event 6: January 21, 2023 – Engadin La Diagonela, Engadin Valley, Switzerland, 48km 
  • Event 7: January 29, 2023 – Marcialonga, Trentino, Italy, 70km
  • Event 8: February 12, 2023 – Jizerská50, Bedrichov, Czech Republic, 50km
