Gjerde Alnæs and Hoel take top honors at Bad Gastein ITT Season XVI

Bad Gastein ITT, the first Ski Classics Pro Tour event of Season XVI, took place this Saturday in Austria. Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, and Amund Hoel, also from Team Engcon, were the fastest in the 7-kilometer-long race, proving their early season form throughout the entire race, abilities in individual competitions and granting their first-ever Pro Tour event win. 

Bad Gastein ITT, the first Ski Classics Pro Tour event of Season XVI, took place this Saturday in Austria. Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, and Amund Hoel, also from Team Engcon, were the fastest in the 7-kilometer-long race, proving their early season form throughout the entire race, abilities in individual competitions and granting their first-ever Pro Tour event win. 

The Individual Time Trial in Sportgastein, Austria, saw Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, and Amund Hoel, Team Engcon, winning the first Ski Classics Season XVI event.

A fierce battle between the athletes marked the 7-kilometer race organized as a time trial with individual starts. The gap between the skiers was 1 minute, with the women starting from 8:30 CET and the men from 10:00 CET. 

BAD GASTEIN ITT – WOMEN’S RACE

In the women’s competition, Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, crushed today’s Individual Time Trial competition.

Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, showed a strong performance throughout the race and, at the 3.3km split, was already in first place, 0.4 seconds ahead of Hedda Bångman, eD System Vltava Fund Team, and 4.8 seconds ahead of Emilie Fleten, Team Ramudden.

In the 6.5km split, Gjerde Alnæs was still in the lead and 6.9 seconds ahead of Magni Smedås, Team Eksjöhus, in second place, and 10.0 seconds ahead of Emilie Fleten, Team Ramudden, in third position. 

At the finish, Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, won with a slim margin of 6.1 seconds over Magni Smedås, Team Eksjöhus, and left Emilie Fleten, Team Ramudden, with the remaining place on the podium, finishing 11.3 seconds behind the winner.

Hedda Bångman, eD System Vltava Fund Team, finished in the 4th position, 17.1 seconds behind, and Hanna Lodin, Team Engcon, ended up in the 5th place, 18.2 seconds back.

BAD GASTEIN ITT – MEN’S RACE

In the men’s field, Amund Hoel, Team Engcon, was the fastest in today’s Pro Tour event, showing a solid performance and granting his first Pro Tour event win. 

Throughout the race, at the first split mark at 3.3km, Amund Hoel had a tight fight with Amund Riege, Team Ramudden, and Petter Stakston, Team Aker Dæhlie. Hoel was only 3.7 seconds ahead of Riege and 4.0 seconds of Stakston.

At the 6.5km split, Hoel kept his lead and was 6.0 seconds ahead of Bruvoll and 7.2 seconds ahead of Stakston.  

At the finish, Amund Hoel, Team Ramudden, won by a small margin and a total time of 15:11.2. Ole Jørgen Bruvoll, Team Engcon, finished in second place, 4.6 seconds behind the winner and conquered his first Ski Classics Pro Tour podium. 

The battle for the remaining podium place was fierce, with Amund Riege, Team Ramudden, finishing in the third position, 7.5 seconds behind the winner and leaving Max Novak, Team Aker Dæhlie, and his teammate Petter Stakston, in the 4th position tied with the same time. 

Honorable mention was given to the athlete Marcus Johansson, who was starting his 100th Pro Tour event at Bad Gastein ITT today. The Lager 157 Ski Team skier finished the race in the 76th position.

SKI CLASSICS COMPETITIONS – CURRENT STANDINGS

After the Bad Gastein ITT, Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, and Amund Hoel, Team Engcon, lead the Champion Bib Competition. Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, and Amund Hoel, Team Engcon, are carrying the Green bib of the Sprint Competition, with the first Sprints being held tomorrow.  

Kati Roivas, Team Eksjöhus, and Thomas Bing, eD System Vltava Fund Team, carry the bib for the Climb Competition, with the first climb checkpoints being contested tomorrow at the Bad Gastein Criterium.

The Pink Bib for the best Youth rests on Hanna Lodin, Team Engcon, and Amund Riege, Team Ramudden.

Team Ramudden is the best-ranked Pro Team after Bad Gastein ITT Season XVI.

Season XVI of Ski Classics Pro Tour consists of 14 events on 10 event weekends in 6 different countries. 

Next up is the Bad Gastein Criterium on Sunday, December 15. The 36-kilometer long-distance skiing race in classic technique marks the second Ski Classics Pro Tour stage of Season XVI.
