Kardin and Fleten take top honors at La Venosta ITT Kapron-Melago

La Venosta ITT Kapron-Melago, the fourth Ski Classics Pro Tour event of Season XVI, took place this Sunday in Italy. Emilie Fleten, Team Ramudden, and Oskar Kardin, Lager 157 Ski Team, were the fastest in the 11-kilometer-long race, proving their form and abilities in individual competitions. 

The Individual Time Trial in Val Venosta, Italy, saw Emilie Fleten, Team Ramudden, and Oskar Kardin, Lager 157 Ski Team, winning the fourth event of Ski Classics Season XVI.

A fierce battle between the athletes marked the 11-kilometer race organized as a time trial with individual starts. The gap between the skiers was 1 minute, with the women starting from 8:30 CET and the men from 9:00 CET. 

LA VENOSTA ITT KAPRON-MELAGO – WOMEN’S RACE

In the women’s competition, Emilie Fleten, Team Ramudden, dominated today’s 11km individual time trial competition.

Emilie Fleten, Team Ramudden, showed a strong performance throughout the race and, at the 1.8km split, was already in first place, 7.6 seconds ahead of Hedda Bångman, eD system Vltava Fund Team, and 8.6 seconds ahead of Stina Nilsson, Team Ragde Charge.

In the 6.4km split, Emilie Fleten, Team Ramudden, was still in the lead and 19.8 seconds ahead of Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, in second place, and 20.0 seconds ahead of Stina Nilsson, Team Ragde Charge, in third position. 

At today’s Climb checkpoint, 8.6km into the race, Emilie Fleten crossed first, followed by Jenny Larsson, Lager 157 Ski Team, in second place and 17.2 seconds back, with Stina Nilsson, Team Ragde Charge, in third position and 17.5 seconds behind.

At the finish, Emilie Fleten, Team Ramudden, won with a time of 38:54.1 and a small margin of 11.4 seconds over Stina Nilsson, Team Ragde Charge, leaving Jenny Larsson, Lager 157 Ski Team, with the remaining place on the podium and 12.0 seconds behind the winner.

Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, finished in the 4th position, 12.1 seconds behind, and Silje Øyre Slind, Team Aker Dæhlie, ended up in the 5th place, 23.9 seconds back.

LA VENOSTA ITT KAPRON-MELAGO – MEN’S RACE

In the men’s field, Oskar Kardin, Lager 157 Ski Team, was the fastest in today’s Pro Tour event, showing a solid performance and granting his second Pro Tour event win. 

Throughout the race, at the first split mark at 1.8km, Oskar Kardin had a tight fight with Johan Tjelle, Team Engcon, and Thomas Ødegaarden, Team Eksjöhus. Kardin was in third position, only 3.2 seconds behind Tjelle and 2.1 seconds behind Ødegaarden.

At the 6.4km split, Oskar Kardin was now in second place, only 0.2 seconds behind Haakon Holden, Team Næringsbanken Stora Enso, and 0.5 seconds ahead of Alvar Myhlback, Lager 157 Ski Team.  

At the only Climb checkpoint of the day, 8.6km into the race, Oskar Kardin crossed first, followed by Johan Tjelle, in second place and 6.1 seconds back, with Alvar Myhlback in third position and 6.9 seconds behind.

At the finish, Oskar Kardin, Lager 157 Ski Team, won by a slim margin and a total time of 32:42.3. Max Novak, Team Aker Dæhlie, finished in second place, 4.1 seconds behind the winner. 

The battle for the remaining podium place was fierce, with Johan Tjelle, Team Engcon, finishing in the third position, 6.5 seconds behind the winner and leaving Haakon Holden, Team Næringsbanken Stora Enso, in the 4th position, 10.7 seconds behind, and Emil Persson, Lager 157 Ski Team, in the 5th place, 12.8 seconds behind.

SKI CLASSICS COMPETITIONS – CURRENT STANDINGS

After La Venosta ITT Kapron-Melago, Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, and Max Novak, Team Aker Dæhlie, lead the Champion Bib Competition. Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, and Anton Persson, Team Ramudden, are carrying the Green bib of the Sprint Competition, with no Sprints being held today.  

Emilie Fleten, Team Ramudden, and Oskar Kardin, Lager 157 Ski Team, carry the bib for the Climb Competition after today’s only Climb checkpoint.

The Pink Bib for the best Youth rests on Hanna Lodin, Team Engcon, and Amund Riege, Team Ramudden.

Team Ramudden is the best-ranked Pro Team after La Venosta ITT Kapron-Melago Season XVI.
