Two weeks, three countries, and eleven days in Germany. That’s what Fredrik Erixon already achieved before arriving in France. Now the next goal is Spain!

For Proxcskiing.com, Erixon is sharing his weekend on roller skis.

“It has been a great weekend, and now I’ve completed Germany. Sunday was my last day before France, and it was also the first day skiing along the Rhine River,” says Fredrik and adds:

“I have been in Germany for 11 days, and it has been much better than expected. Everything is fixed and prepared. The asphalt is good (except for cobbled roads), there are cycle paths everywhere, and the phone coverage is always good.”

“The thing that surprised me the most is all those cycle paths. It turns out that the cycle paths are actually old rails roads that have been transformed, so the asphalt is super good, it’s quite flat, and there are no cars, so it’s amazing for roller skiing.”

After Germany, Fredrik is already in France:

“I reached Strasbourg on Sunday, and this is an amazing city. It’s well preserved, and it’s really nice with all the old buildings. Then I met a friend in Strasbourg who came from Sweden to share some time with me, and we had a nice dinner together. I loved the city even though it’s not easy to roller ski with all the cobbles. It took me a while to go in and out of Strasbourg.”

“Then, on Monday, the plan was to go to Mulhouse. Since I left Sweden, I’ve been using Komoot to find my way, and navigation has been perfect in Denmark and Germany. I decided to do the same in France.”

“The plan was to follow the river from Strasbourg to Mulhouse, which is 120km. I found a cycle path that went straight to the South. That was super nice because it was good asphalt, no cars, flat, shady, and the birds singing.”

“After 40km, my water went out, and I couldn’t find a way to find coffee or Fika. But luckily, I found two long-distance cyclists who offered me some. They stopped to boil water and made me coffee, and offered cookies! They were lovely, and that was one of the best coffees of the trip. They were biking through France, doing this for one month every year. I am so inspired by people like them who are taking time to travel.”

“Now, the plan is to reach Lyon and pass by Jura. You can follow my journey on my Strava account.”
