Dahl on the weekend’s competition: “I have high hopes”
Ida Dahl has truly demonstrated that her form has been improving. In the 3 Zinnen Ski Marathon, she pulled away from the other skiers early on and crossed the finish line with a three-minute lead over the second-place finisher, Kati Roivas, Team Eksjöhus. Before the race, she hadn’t planned on breaking away, as she explained.
“It just happened. I hadn’t thought about it beforehand, but during the race, I felt that I might be the strongest that day, so I went for it, and it turned out well. It was a successful tactic,” says Ida Dahl to Langd.se.
How did your body react to the race, and how have you felt in the days after?
“I was very tired. It was a long and tough race. We haven’t had such long races this season so far. I mostly felt it during the first two days, but now I feel recovered. I have high hopes for the competition this weekend.”
What has the week looked like after the race last Saturday?
“The first three days have been quite calm, and I’ve trained what feels good and listened to my body. Today (Wednesday), we had our first hard training session. It was time to wake up the body again before the competition,” she explains.
After her victory in the 3 Zinnen Ski Marathon, Ida has reclaimed the lead in the Champion competition from Emilie Fleten, Team Ramudden. She is clear about what it takes to stay ahead of the others.
“It requires having good form throughout the season. It’s about listening to your body and training smart.”
