This weekend, the Ski Classics Pro Tour goes to Switzerland for the fifth event of Season XVI. Due to limited snowfall in recent weeks, the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has announced course changes for Engadin La Diagonela.

On Saturday, January 18, 2025, the spotlight falls on the Engadin La Diagonela, a demanding long-distance skiing race in the breathtaking Engadin Valley. Renowned as Switzerland’s premier classic technique competition, this event marks the fifth Pro Tour event of Season XVI.

Due to a shortage of snowfall in recent weeks, the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has shortened the race from 55km to 43km. The course starts in Pontresina – via Samedan, Celerina, Traumloipe Pontresina, Bienenhaus in Val Roseg, Pontresina, then continues the usual course via S-chanf to Zuoz.

La Saireda Roseg & La Sfida – Ski Classics Challengers

The Ski Classics Challengers events La Saireda Roseg, a night individual start race in classic technique, taking place on Thursday, January 16, and La Sfida, the race in freestyle technique of Engadin La Diagonela, on Sunday, January 19, 2025, will also see some changes.

For La Saireda Roseg, the event will have a mass start instead of an individual start. The course will follow Via Celerina and the Traumloipe in Celerina to Pontresina, with an adjusted distance of 11.5km.

For La Sfida, the finish line is now in Pontresina instead of Silvaplana. The route follows Zuoz, La Punt, Samedan Golf Course, Celerina, Traumloipe, railway underpass, and finishes in Pontresina. The LOC managed to add a few kilometers along the way, minimizing the distance lost. The total distance is now 24km.
