On Thursday, Alvar Myhlback announced on Instagram that he had fallen ill and would miss the Ski Classics finale in Norway.

“Birken was the last @skiclassicsofficial competition for me this year; due to illness, I can’t take part in the last weekend. The rest of the team is working hard and will deliver,” writes Alvar in an Instagram post.

The 17-year-old has had a sensational season; in the Swedish Premiere in Bruksvallarna, he reached a podium place in the sprint; and at Vasaloppet, Alvar managed a top 8.

What lies ahead for Alvar Myhlback remains to be seen. The talent has hinted that he will likely return to traditional cross-country skiing next season.

Next up is Reistadløpet on April 1 and Summit 2 Senja on April 2. The events mark the 13th and 14th Ski Classics stages and the final weekend of Season XIV.

The Season XIV of Ski Classics Pro Tour consists of 14 events on 10 event weekends in 6 different countries.
