The biathlon World Cup and IBU Cup season 2025/2026 start in less than a week. The U.S. national teams – World Cup and IBU Cup – are now named for the first two weekends of the new winter season.

Östersund, Sweden, from November 29 to December 7, and Obertilliach, Austria, from December 4 to 7, are the places for this year’s biathlon World Cup and IBU Cup premieres, respectively. 

In a press release, the U.S. Biathlon has named their biathlon teams for the first two events of the Biathlon World Cup and IBU Cup.

According to the U.S. Biathlon, “U.S. Biathlon announced today the 16 athletes who will represent the United States at World Cup 1-2 and IBU Cup 1-2.”

*Joanne Reid will begin the season on the IBU Cup tour in order to earn the IBU qualifying points required to race the World Cup. Lucinda Anderson, as the World Cup 1-2 alternate, was nominated to fill Joanne’s position until she acquires the proper number of IBU points. At that time, Lucinda will race the IBU Cup, and Joanne will race the World Cup.

**Jake Brown is the named alternate for World Cup 1-2.
