Retirement on hold – Takes over national team
He is one of the most successful coaches in Swedish biathlon. Now, gold medal coach Wolfgang Pichler is taking over a new national team.
Wolfgang Pichler is a well-known name in Swedish biathlon. Over several tenures, he has successfully led the Swedish national team and was instrumental in bringing Hanna Öberg and Sebastian Samuelsson into the squad.
After the 2018/2019 season, he stepped down as a coach in Sweden. Last winter, he led the Bulgarian national team, which had an impressive season with podium finishes in the World Cup and a bronze medal at the Olympics.

Takes over national team
It is now confirmed that Pichler will take over the Austrian national team.

The contract extends until Austria’s home World Championships in Hochfilzen in 2028, reports Radiosporten.
