Johannes Høsflot Klæbo and the Norwegian Ski Association have agreed on a new national team deal, settling the terms of his continued involvement with the squad.

The agreement covers both the sporting and commercial framework for the collaboration and follows a period of uncertainty after Klæbo’s previous two-year contract expired. Cross-country skiing manager Cathrine Instebø says both sides approached the talks constructively.

“We are very happy to have landed a new agreement with Johannes. Through open and ongoing conversations, we have had a good, shared understanding of each other’s needs and ambitions. The agreement provides a solid foundation for continued cooperation that takes care of both the national team’s needs and Johannes’s further ambitions,” Instebø says in a press release.

Klæbo, who dominated the past season and arrives at these negotiations from a position of considerable strength, says he is satisfied with the outcome.

“I am glad we have reached an agreement that gives a good foundation for the work and collaboration ahead. The talks with the Ski Association have been constructive throughout. I feel we have landed something both parties are happy with, and I look forward to a new period on the national team,” he says.

His father and manager Haakon Klæbo, who has been a central figure in previous contract stand-offs with the Federation, also struck an upbeat tone.

“The Ski Association has been solution-oriented and constructive in our conversations, and I believe we have been too. That is why we have found good solutions for both parties,” he says.

The details of the deal remain undisclosed for now, with both parties saying more information will follow. What is clear is that the 2027 World Championships in Falun are the next major goal, with Klæbo no doubt eyeing another dominant campaign on the biggest stage.
