The “Vincent Vittoz” National Challenge took place this weekend in France. Check out the results.

At the Plans d’Hotonnes resort in the Ain department, this was the first national event of the summer for all French skiers. All members of the French B teams were present for two days of racing.

The weekend’s schedule consisted of a freestyle roller ski sprint on Saturday and a classic style mass start on Sunday on an uphill course.

Saturday: Freestyle roller ski sprint

The qualifying course was a 1.23-km loop with no real difficulties. In the men’s class, Antoine Lanne won the qualifying round with a time of 2’18’’, ahead of Gaspard Rousset and Luc Primet.

In the women’s class, Daphné Patois won the qualifying round with a time of 2’39’’, ahead of France Pignot and Liv Coupat.

During the heats, the course was slightly different: two 600-meter laps where positioning was crucial.

In the women’s race, Léna Quintin won ahead of France Pignot and Clémence Didierlaurent.

In the men’s race, Luc Primet took the win ahead of Gaspard Rousset and Ugo Zanellato.

Sunday: Classic style mass start

The classic mass start took place over a distance of 17km on an uphill course (500m of elevation gain).

The challenging course quickly led to the formation of small groups in both the men’s and women’s races.

In the men’s race, Milhan Laissus took first place ahead of Mathieu Blanc (+ 0’10’’) and Aubin Gaulier (+ 0’12’’).

With a win by 1h and 2 seconds, Juliette Ducordeau won the women’s race ahead of Heidi Convard (+ 1’00’’) and Liv Coupat (+ 1’11’’).
