This season, he won Birkebeinerrennet and Marcialonga Bodø, and stood on the podium at the concluding Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja. Now the 32-year-old is leaving the Swedish top Pro Team.
Torleif Syrstad transitioned from Lager 157 Ski Team to Team Engcon two years ago after securing his first victory at Vasaloppet. During his time with Team Engcon, he achieved five podium finishes, including two victories this season.
The 32-year-old won this year’s edition of Birkebeinerrennet with a commanding performance, following it up by dominating Marcialonga Bodø.
Leaving Team Engcon
Despite his successes, it is now confirmed that he is leaving Team Engcon.
On his social media, Syrstad writes:
“Thanks for two years at @team.engcon, but it came to a stop here.”
He further mentions that the future is uncertain, but his motivation for a new season remains strong.
“The road ahead is uncertain, but there’s no doubt that I’m motivated for continued efforts.”
