Long-distance skier ends career
The 31-year-old has competed in the Olympics and is a Swedish champion. Now the skier from Värmland announces that he is ending his career.
Anton Persson was part of the Swedish national team for several years and has competed in both the Olympics and World Championships. Two years ago, the 31-year-old switched to long-distance skiing and has since been a member of the Swedish Pro Team, Team Ramudden.
It is now confirmed that this will be his final season as an elite skier.
“Time to enter my final month as an elite athlete! It has been quite a journey – from being unmotivated and lost, not really understanding what it takes,” he wrote on social media.

Praises coach
In his post, he also praises former national team coach Mattias Nilsson.
“Then I met @coachnilsson, who showed me how hard you need to work to reach the top. My World Cup debut with 70th place, +20 seconds from the lead, hurt a lot, but the climb up the rankings was exciting.”
He ends the post with a touch of humor.
“Not many would have believed that a ‘raggare’ from Torsby would make it to both the Olympics and World Championships and become Swedish champion.”
Anton Persson has 34 World Cup starts and competed at the Beijing 2022 Olympics and the 2021 World Championships in Oberstdorf. The same year, he also became Swedish champion.
