A tough autumn and winter have kept him away from racing. Now Emil Persson is ready to return to competition, starting with Vasaloppet.

After a troubled winter, Emil Persson is finally set to race his first event of the season, he told SVT Sport. His comeback will come at Vasaloppet this Sunday.

Persson won Vasaloppet in 2023 and claimed the overall Ski Classics title that year. After all the setbacks, he is finally happy to be back at the start.

“It’s great to be on the start line finally. It’s been a messy winter. Vasaloppet is not a race you want to miss,” Emil Persson told SVT Sport.

He sees returning to competition as a victory after the difficult autumn and winter.

“Yes, of course it’s big. It will be a tough test with 90 kilometers, so we’ll see. I’ll compete as well as I can.”

Vasaloppet starts on Sunday, March 1, at 08:00 CET. The race will be broadcast on SC Play.
