The road toward the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2027 in Falun has reached another milestone with the appointment of Thomas Rosenfeldt as Chief Financial Officer.

With more than four decades in finance and deep ties to the sports industry, Rosenfeldt will oversee the event’s financial strategy and operations when he steps into the role at the end of October.

Falun is no stranger to hosting major ski events, having staged the World Championships in 1954, 1974, 1993, and most recently in 2015. Preparing for 2027, the local organizing committee is building both an experienced leadership team and a strong event organization to match the scale of the challenge.

Rosenfeldt’s track record at Craft, Amer Sports, and Salomon, along with his most recent position as Business Developer at New Wave Group, reflects the blend of international sports business expertise and financial acumen that Falun 2027 aims to bring into its core team.

“It feels very positive to welcome Thomas to the team. He brings extensive experience from the sports industry and a solid background working with companies that demand strong performance. He is detail-oriented, ensures nothing is overlooked, and has an impressive ability to engage and involve the entire organization in financial processes,” said Jonas Peterson, CEO of the World Ski Championships in Falun AB, on a press release.

Rosenfeldt himself is motivated by the project’s unique nature.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun,” says Thomas Rosenfeldt, and adds:

“I’m excited to be part of this type of organization — a time-limited project with a clear goal. It feels both exciting and unique, knowing that everything must be in place when the Championships take place in February–March 2027.”

Johanna Lundström, who has been serving as acting CFO, will remain within the company as accounting manager, ensuring continuity as the organization transitions into its next phase of preparation.

With less than two and a half years until the opening ceremonies, the financial leadership under Rosenfeldt will play a crucial role in shaping the success of one of skiing’s most anticipated events on Swedish soil.
