The US national team star, who finished seventh overall in the World Cup last winter, is stepping up her focus on long-distance skiing, signing with a top-10 Ski Classics Pro Team.

The 35-year-old, who finished seventh overall in the World Cup during the winter season 2023/2024, has re-signed with the Italian Ski Classics Pro Team, Team Robinson Trentino.

Rosie Brennan will continue collaborating with the Italian Pro Team, for which she did her Ski Classics Pro Tour races in 2023: First, she took a solid second place at Reistadløpet, and the next day, she finished fifth in the Ski Classics Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja.

With her vast experience and capacity, Brennan is an enormous asset to the team, and Pro Team Director Bruno Debertolis is excited about the contract’s continuation.

The national team skier from Park City, Utah, has 15 years behind her at the World Cup level, including two Olympics and five World Championships. She is passionate about cross-country skiing, its different physical and mental aspects, diversity, environment, and her commitment to the sport.

Brennan is looking forward to continuing to work with the Italian Pro Team:

“I enjoyed my time with Team Robinson Trentino. It’s great to be part of a completely different skiing environment, full of people passionate about long-distance skiing. And it’s exciting to have teammates from so many different nations. You learn a lot about other cultures that way, and that’s one of the best things about the skiing environment,” Brennan tells Fondo Italia and adds:

“I think I also brought something to them, as an American and with my World Cup experience. They can learn things from me, while at the same time, they have a lot of experience with long races and double poling. It’s nice to share and learn from each other.”

How will you combine long-distance skiing and the World Cup?

“I wish the Ski Classics and World Cup schedules were more compatible because it would have been nice to participate in more long-distance races. But with the schedules as they are, I must focus on the World Cup until it’s over and switch to long-distance skiing afterward. I’ve just seen the Ski Classics schedule, and there might be some opportunities to do some of the earlier races as well, but we’ll have to see. This year, I was sad that I got sick at the end of the season and had to go home without doing any long races. But I hope it will be different next year.”

Pro Team Director Bruno Debertolis is pleased that the World Cup star has chosen to stay with the team.

“Besides being an extremely strong skier, she has a wealth of precious experience for the team, especially the younger skiers. Having a World Cup star in the team is stimulating for them, and being able to prepare for competitions with her gives them great development opportunities,” says Debertolis, adding:

“And I have a dream of seeing her at Marcialonga.”

At Team Robinson Trentino, the North American national team star will be teammates with Oda Nerdrum, among others. ProXCskiing.com reported earlier this spring that the talented Norwegian Pro Team athlete was headhunted to the Italian team after four seasons with Team Kaffebryggeriet.

With the signing of Nerdrum, Team Robinson Trentino expands its international roster of skiers. Do you have more news in store for the coming season?

“We’ve been the most international team in Ski Classics for a long time, and we’ll be the same this season. We have skiers from five nations besides Italy: Rosie Brennan from the USA, Oda Nerdrum and Patrick Kristoffersen from Norway, Gustav Eriksson from Sweden, and Tereza Hujerova from the Czech Republic. And even though she’s not part of the Pro Team squad, Justyna Kowalczyk is also part of our team. So, I guess you could say we’re a well-stocked group with one thing in common: we’re proud to promote the Trentino region,” says Debertolis.

Last but not least, what are your goals for Season XVI?

“Our goal for the next season will surely be to confirm our level as a team in the overall standings, conquer some individual results in the top 10, and share even more in Italy our experience in Ski Classics to stimulate more and more young people to know this fantastic showcase,” says Bruno Debertolis to ProXCskiing.com in an earlier interview.
