The Ski Classics Season XV is over, but preparation for the upcoming season is underway. Hear about the past season and what lies ahead for the Italian Pro Team, Team Robinson Trentino.

Team Robinson Trentino has been around since 2017, making the world of Ski Classics popular among many young people and enthusiasts of all ages in Italy. They have just completed another season in Ski Classics and ended up in 9th place overall in the Pro Team competition, meaning they are guaranteed a Pro Team license for Season XVI and confirmed their status as the best Italian Pro Team.

Bruno Debertolis, Pro Team Director, reflects on the team’s performance during Season XV:

“Team Robinson Trentino’s season was positive overall. We achieved our goal of remaining one of the top 10 teams in the circuit, improving even from last year where we were 10th,” says Debertolis and added about the challenges during the winter:

“However, we must emphasize the fact that we have not been fortunate, with several small and larger issues that have haunted us like illnesses, broken poles, and last but not least, the accident with Chiara Caminada, who fell at Diagonela and was out the whole rest of the season due to a broken shoulder.”

Despite the challenges and difficulties, what is the most memorable moment from the season?

“There were several up moments, but I think two were particularly positive, perhaps because they were unexpected. At the Bad Gastein Criterium, we put two women in the top 20 positions, Michi Patscheider and Tereza Hujerová were great, as were the men at Vasaloppet with 3 in the top 27 and protagonists for almost the whole race. Gustav, Didi, and Patrick gave their best in the most difficult race of the season. We also have to thank the service team who did incredible work on this occasion.”

What aspects did Team Robinson Trentino excel in during Season XV?

“I think the whole team was solid, athletes and staff included. In my opinion, there is a beautiful atmosphere within the team. I can say that perhaps a strong point was the equipment, where we assimilated very well the transition to no-fluor, resetting our working method having to start from scratch,” says Bruno and added:

“We were always up to the level of the best teams and even on some occasions, Vasaloppet and Janteloppet for example, among the fastest on the track. Here, this aspect worked very well.”

In what areas do you see potential for further development?

“Clearly, as in everything, margins and aspects could be improved. First, there is the possibility of having more training camps, thus giving the skiers the chance to train more and more often in groups, such as strengthening the staff. All of this would be feasible with a few more sponsors to increase the budget.”

When do you expect to finalize your team for the upcoming season?

“We are finalizing some ‘cross-country market’ operations right now, but until everything is confirmed, I prefer not to say anything at the moment. However, I am convinced that we could be even more competitive with the athletes confirmed from last season and the new additions.”

Last but not least, what are your goals for Season XVI?

“Our goal for the next season will surely be to confirm our level as a team in the overall standings, conquer some individual results in the top 10, and share even more in Italy our experience in Ski Classics to stimulate more and more young people to know this fantastic showcase,” concludes Bruno Debertolis.
