Due to warm weather and insufficient snow conditions, Jizerská50, scheduled to take place in the Czech Republic on February 11, is now canceled.

Jizerská50, the eighth Ski Classics Pro Tour stage and second Grand Classics event of Season XV, planned to take place on Sunday, February 11, 2024, in Bedřichov, Czech Republic, has been canceled due to warm weather and poor snow conditions.

The organizers were working with several options for the race, but at the end of January and the beginning of February, there was little snowfall, and temperatures were mostly above freezing level. They have been in daily contact with the Czech National Weather Service, and they expect even warmer temperatures and heavy rainfall in the coming days, which resulted in the cancelation of the traditional Czech long-distance skiing event.

“Of course, a very sad day for Jizerska; they have worked fantastically past years to develop the event and were expecting a record of 9500 participants next weekend. However, winter sports depend on weather and snow conditions, so even the best organization will meet impossible conditions in order to stage an event. For Ski Classics Pro Tour, the next event will now be Orsa Grönklitt 17-18th of February in Sweden,” says David Nilsson, CEO Ski Classics.
