During Ski Classics Season XIV, Kati Roivas, Team Næringsbanken Stora Enso, achieved several top 6 places and a top 4 at Engadin La Diagonela and was particularly satisfied with the progress in January.

Before the start of Season XIV, Roivas thought that if she was in good shape, she could have a chance to get into the top 10. Now, the Pro Tour athlete reflects on the past season and sets sights on future goals.

“I think it was a pretty solid season, and I was able to take a step up from last year. My goal was to become a regular top 10 skier and reach the top 5, so I’m satisfied with the results. Of course, there were races where I felt I could have done better and wanted more out of,” says Roivas to ProXCskiing.com and continues:

“January overall was very good. Some of my favorite racecourses alongside the best results of the season. La Diagonela was special when I was in the fight for the podium until the end.”

When asked about the most challenging aspect of the season, the athlete reflected on the difficulties of balancing travel, racing, and staying healthy.

“Overall, I think balancing the load of travel and racing and staying healthy. I got sick after Marcialonga, and that affected my performance in February. Then, in some races, I had challenges with my equipment.”

Looking ahead to the summer, the athlete plans to take some time off and focus on unstructured training while enjoying the warmer weather.

Additionally, she expressed interest in participating in rollerski racing, as it provides both enjoyment and good training for the winter season.

“Now, I’m taking some time off, doing some unstructured training, and enjoying the spring before focusing on a new training season.”

“I think I will do some rollerski racing this summer as well. It is fun and good training for the winter, even if I don’t have as high goals on rollerskis as skis.”

As for the upcoming Ski Classics Pro Tour season, Roivas hopes to continue developing and becoming a regular top-six skier. She is determined to push herself even further, hoping to secure a spot on the podium after coming so close at Engadin La Diagonela.

“As for winter, I hope to continue to develop as a skier and become a regular top 6 skier. Of course, as I was so close to a podium in La Diagonela, it would be amazing to take that last step as a skier to reach the top 3.”

Kati Roivas expressed her appreciation for the growing interest in Ski Classics, especially in her home country of Finland.

“It has been fun to see that the interest in Ski Classics is rising, also in Finland. It would be great to see more young skiers from Finland try Ski Classics.”

And for her fans and our readers, Kati Roivas left a message:

“For those who still have ski conditions, enjoy the best time of the year!”

Overall, Ski Classics Pro Tour athlete remains determined and motivated to continue improving her skills and pushing herself to the next level.
