Anger reflects on Olympic nightmare: “My goal is an individual World Championship medal”
Last winter started as a dream but turned into a nightmare. Now, Edvin Anger has recharged ahead of the World Championships in Falun, with individual medals as the goal.
Last season was a rollercoaster for Edvin Anger, to say the least. It started with top performances but soon turned mediocre. At the Olympics in Milano Cortina, the results were disappointing, with the men’s team finishing last in the relay.
“It started well but ended poorly,” Edvin Anger notes.
Now, he looks ahead.
“It’s truly a new chapter in my skiing life and career. I just have to let go of what was and try to find my drive again.”
Vacation and farm work
First, he completely set aside his skis. He took a full vacation with a different focus, spending time at home in Hedemora. Then he got back into training with renewed and greater focus.
He also took time to help out on his uncle’s farm.
“This year, I made time for that. I enjoy it; it’s mentally relaxing. It’s a good way to reflect on everything that has happened and also think about something completely different.”
Training has gone well over the summer and fall.
“I haven’t done much else and haven’t competed much, not run any road races or pushed myself to the max. I’ve tried to save my energy a bit.”
“It’s gold we’re going for”
Edvin Anger grew up outside Hedemora. He knows the courses in Falun very well.
“I’ve competed in Lilla Skidspelen since I was a little kid. I’ve also raced in the World Cup there several times, so it’s fun to be back.”
From the World Championships in Trondheim 2025, he has two bronze medals in the relay and team sprint. Now, he aims higher.
“I want to win individual medals. That’s what I’m going for. It would be huge to do it on home soil. It’s gold we’re aiming for, but a lot has to come together.”
He sees his best chances for medals at the beginning of the championships.
“I would say the first three races. But especially the sprint and the 10 kilometers (which this year will be in classic style).

Tour de Ski in the basic plan
The World Championships are the primary goal, but the Tour de Ski is also part of the planning.
“The basic plan is to compete in the Tour de Ski. But then the plan can change from week to week if something happens,” says Edvin Anger.
