Swedish wax truck sold to Italy

After 12 years of service, countless championship medals, and World Cup podiums, the Swedish wax truck is leaving Sweden and the national cross-country team. The truck was sold to the Italian national cross-country team.

This week, the wax truck was handed over to the Italian national cross-country team. In connection with the handover, the Swedish manager, Anders Svanebo, walked the Italian team through the truck.

“It’s a bit sad that we’re going to hand over this waxing truck that has been with us since 2012. Many World Championships and Olympic medals have been celebrated over the years in this space, and many good skis have been prepared.”

However, the Swedish national cross-country team will not be without a waxing truck this winter. A new wax truck is being developed with SKAB Group.

“It’s a very exciting project we have underway with the SKAB Group. I really look forward to getting my foot in the new modern truck this fall,” says Anders Svanebo.

The cross-country team’s wax truck will be rolling towards Italy shortly. The Swedish team has had the Italian team on-site in Falun to train the team on how everything works.

“Finding a new home for the old trailer has been an essential part of the process. It will provide many benefits to the Italian cross-country team. Still, I also think from a sustainability perspective that it continues to be used, which feels good in my heart,” says Svanebo in a press release.

The new truck is being built in collaboration with SKAB Group.

“I hope that many people out there are as curious about this project as we are. It will be fun to follow the construction and be able to tell our fans and followers about the journey on our social media channels,” says Anders Svanebo.

“Sustainability and long-term are prioritized in the work process. We want to ensure that we build a wax truck that will last for many winters, and we mainly use Swedish producers, local suppliers, and sustainable products.”

Work on the truck has already started and is expected to be ready for the pre-season. Many businesses are involved in the manufacture of the truck. The main one is SKAB Group, headquartered in Ätran in Halland.
