In a display of skill and endurance, Spanish skier Sadurni Betriu Boix, representing Team Internorm Alpenplus Trentino, clinched victories in both events he entered at the Winter World Masters Games.

Demonstrating remarkable prowess, Betriu Boix first secured a win in the 7.5km skating race, followed by a triumphant performance in the 15km classic skiing race the next day.

Reflecting on his achievements, Betriu Boix shared with ProXCskiing.com, “Despite the short distance, I felt strong and in form throughout the race. Both events were not only exhilarating competitions but also excellent training opportunities.”

Following his participation in the 3 Zinnen Ski Marathon, Betriu Boix headed to Italy, ready to make his mark in this esteemed event. Having previously competed in the Winter World Masters Games in Beitostølen, he was eager to experience the race again. He enthused about the atmosphere, noting, “It was a gathering of lifelong skiers from across the globe – a truly enjoyable and vibrant environment.”

Accompanied by his teammates, Betriu Boix traveled to the Lombardy region in Italy, where they savored the competitive spirit and relaxed in anticipation of their next challenge, the Dolomitenlauf. “These events highlight the uniqueness and camaraderie of our sport,” commented Betriu Boix.

The Spanish skier acknowledged the high caliber of his competitors: “The field comprised extremely capable skiers. While they might not be at the World Cup or Ski Classics level, many are seasoned athletes with extensive training and racing experience.”

Betriu Boix views his participation in the event as a valuable training experience, strategically preparing for Dolomitenlauf. “Our aim is to be in peak condition for the highlight of our season, Marcialonga,” he stated, outlining the team’s aspirations.

The Winter World Master Games

The Winter World Masters Games is an international sporting event specifically designed for mature athletes, typically aged 30 and older. It represents the winter version of the World Masters Games, one of the largest global sporting events for mature participants, encompassing a variety of winter sports disciplines.

Unlike the Olympic Games, which focus on elite athletes, the Winter World Masters Games are geared towards amateur athletes. This includes enthusiasts and former professionals who are passionate about continuing their involvement in sports into their later years.
