by Leandro Lutz • 27.12.2021
Russian cross-country skier Veronika Stepanova will not race the Tour de Ski, which starts tomorrow in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.

Stepanova got food poisoning and Khristina Matsokina will replace her in the Tour de Ski.

“Veronika Stepanova will miss the Tour de Ski due to food poisoning. She will be replaced by Khristina Matsokina”, says Elena Vyalbe, Head of the Russian Skiing Federation.

“Veronika felt bad, got food poisoning, but she is okay. Instead, Khristina Matsokina will be at the start. But as you know, it is impossible to select one person to the Tour de Ski and replace her later,” Vyalbe told Match TV.
